Numerology 2 Documentation

Patchbay Setup

The Patchbay Setup is a set of preferences specific to Numerology's Audio and MIDI I/O, and for Numerology's internal signal busses. You can access these preferences by choosing "Patchbay Setup" from the Numerology menu.

The settings are divided up into tabs, one for each of various combinations of signal types (Audio, MIDI, CV), and connection types (Inputs, Outputs, and Busses).

Audio Input & Output

On these two tabs, you can rename your audio inputs and outputs, and you can also enable and disable them. Disabling unused audio ports will save some CPU cycles, so you should definitely disable ports that you are not using. You will need to restart Numerology for enable/disable changes to take effect.

Numerology maintains a copy of these settings for each Audio interface that you use with it. The Patchbay Setup dialog always acts on the currently active audio interface.

MIDI Input & Output

On these tabs you can change the names used within Numerology to refer to MIDI input and output ports. You can also re-assign which devices the ports are connected to. This can be very handy if you replace a piece of gear, such as a hardware MIDI interface, and want to 'globally' replace the old port with a new one. You can also choose to disable a MIDI Port by changing it to "Offline". Disabled ports do not appear in Numerology's MIDI menus.

Audio, MIDI & CV Busses

On these tabs you can change the names of the signal busses Numerology uses internally to route signals from one stack to another.

Resetting the Patchbay

Very occasionally, you may want to completely reset these preferences. The way to do that is to remove the file where they are stored. The file is called PatchbaySetup.nmo, and is located in:
