Free or Cheap Software
Soundflower
This handy virtual audio driver for OS X comes from Cycling74.
It is probably the easiest way to route audio from Numerology to another application for recording.
Soundflower is a free download, available on the Cycling74 homepage.

Audio Hijack
A highly popular app from
Rogue Amoeba for recording the sound output of your Mac.
It also allows you to add AU's to the recorded stream. This is a good way to record the output of Numerology
if you don't have any other software available.
WireTap
Free software that does what Audio Hijack does, but without the bells and whistles.
Jack AU / JackOSX.com
Jack is an open-source project to create plugins that can stream audio from one application to
another -- kindof a peer-to-peer variation on ReWire. Five12 has not had a chance to test this
stuff yet, but some Numerology users have been able to use it to stream audio into other apps.

MidiMonitor
A very handy and well-written MIDI monitor application from www.snoize.com.
Great for debugging MIDI communication issues, or judging the accuracy of MIDI Clock generated
by an application...

Polyphontics
It's not free, or a synthesizer, but it is an inexpensive ($40) utility
for building SoundFont or DLS sounds you can use in SimpleSynth or other
synthesizers.

JunXion
JunXion allows you to use USB game controllers to generate MIDI, which you can then use to
control Numerology...

VSamp
A very reasonably priced ($39) software sampler with integrated editing.
It can load SampleCell and SoundFont files, and run as a VST plugin.
Get it at: http://www.vsamp.com.
SimpleSynth
A free, and very handy virtual instrument that plays Soundfont and DLS sample files,
including Apple's built in General MIDI soundset. Those of you that are programmers
may be interested to know that it comes with source code and makes a good example
of writing a simple CoreAudio app.

Rax
Rax is an OS X Audio Unit host. It allows you to setup virtual racks of Audio Unit
synths and FX. It comes with support for Apple's built-in DLS synth, reverb and other
effects.
Granted Software also has several other interesting OS X audio apps and utilities.

Fancy Software
These packages are a bit more expensive, but offer a wide
range of features. See the web pages for each vendor for details.
We plan to add to this list as more products are ported to OS X.
Propellerheads Reason Software synth and virtual studio.
Ableton Live Audio loop sequencer.

Interesting Hardware
This is a semi-random list of hardware synthesisers that we have experience with
and know are fun to use with Numerology.
Novation Nova / Supernova
Another synth company that knows how to do multi-timbral operation
right. Voices are fully editable, with many parameters controllable through CC.
Analog Modular Synthesizers
Using Numerology to control a modular synthesizer is an experience that
can range from just damned convenient, to absolutely nutty.
If you feel adventurous, and you've never worked with one
before, we highly recommend investigating this option.
