Numerology 1.4 : What's New
Multi-Channel Audio I/O With multi-channel audio input and output, the option to select separate devices for input and output, and important details like settings for audio hardware clock sync and buffer sizes, Numerology is ready to integrate with all the gear in your studio. Route your guitar or hardware synths through the Audio Unit effects of your choice, or output your sequenced synths through multiple outputs for external mixing and processing. And, you can now easily use SoundFlower to route audio directly from Numerology into other programs for further mixing recording, while still being able to process audio input. Updated Mixing To keep up with the new options for Audio I/O, Numerology's integrated Audio and MIDI mixer has been updated with 4 stereo aux sends, stereo panning and stereo metering. Aux sends are chained so that one group processing an aux bus can feed it's signal to other aux sends. And, of course, all aux sends can be set to run pre or post fader, and pre-fader sends respect the pan setting for that channel. Custom Clock Divisions Not happy with the same-old same-old quarter notes, sixteenth's, triplets and so on? Then try Numerology 1.4's new custom clock division capabilities. They allow you to run any Numerology sequencer at any division of a beat from 1/1 to 32/32. Sprinkle on a few notes at 1/5th or 1/6th of a beat to spice up your mix. Or go the Ligeti route and program each voice of your quartet into a separate time base. Don't think that's enough? Then modulate your custom divisions with ParamMod, or apply Numerology's unique gate division features for even wackier effects. Only interested in speed? Fine, just crank any Numerology sequencer up to 1/256th notes and see if your synths can handle audio rate MIDI generation! Triple X-Y Module Not quite your garden-variety XY controller, this module incorporates constant-time glide for building smooth parameter changes, long-form transitions, or, with the help of an LFO or two, complex generative sequences. Improved Parameter Modulation Numerology's powerful ParamMod module has been updated with a revised layout and a new AutoScale feature. Now the ParamMod can automatically scale incoming values from most Numerology control sources (such as the TripleXy, DualLFO, and Control Sequencer modules) to any target parameter range. This makes the wild and wacky world of parameter modulation quite a bit easier to get into. Group Import A seemingly somewhat boring feature with great implications for creativity: Group Import allows you to create new sessions by piecing together parts from your own library of Numerology projects. AU Hosting Improvements Numerology 1.4 now features sample-accurate note scheduling for Audio Units, and improved host sync callbacks for Audio Units that sync to Numerology's transport (such as iDrum). These fixes also much improve operation with plugins from Native Instruments. In addition, there are also some tweaks to resolve user interface problems with some plugins. For details visit the updated Audio Unit Compatibility List. Higher-resolution sequencing You can now adjust the speed at which Numerology's internal engine executes. This engine is what drives all Numerology's sequencers and signal processing modules. In Numerology 1.4, when AU hosting is enabled, this engine will lock to the Core Audio rendering thread for improved timing and CPU efficiency. You can set the rate with which Numerology executes it's non-audio modules relative to the audio sample rate, anywhere from about 1ms, up to full audio rate. Really handy when you just have to generate those 1/256th notes at 500 BPM.... Interpolated Control Sequencer Turn any Control Sequencer into a basic envelope generator by using the new linear interpolated output mode. With this feature on, the output of the sequencer becomes a programmable multi-stage linear envelope. Lots O Fixes In addition to resolving several issues related to sequencer trigger modes, Numerology 1.4 has lots of other fixes as well.
