View Full Version : Novation Remote 25 SL (& Related)
I'm just curious how many folks have one of these, they seem to be pretty popular...
Cheers,
Jim
This is a great control keyboard I've done some mapping for version 1.4.3 using 2 pages maps and am about to try it with version 2. my plan is to do a 3 x 16 pitch sequencer aka MAQ 16/3 but this would need 3 midi channels of identical mapping i.e. 13, 14 15 and the Automap software server to run. Has anybody else been doing this?
I did a similar mapping in Reason but then discovered that the Thor unit analogue sequencer can't output anything but sound. The great news Is I drove the thor from Numerology last night which means I can mess about in reason and when i get a cool pattern I can duplicate it in numerology for safe keeping and use with external kit.
If anyone is interested I will upload the numerology SL file and the novation mapping files.
Cheers Mal

Yes, I've got one of these too, really cool.
I'd love to see any Numerology templates out there. I know that Jim also has one, so we're all waiting to see how people map them.
Please upload. I suspect that this thread is here for that reason.
Was going to upload the Novation and numerology files but I don't see any way of doing it, it says add attachment but I don't see an attachment icon. ho hum..

I have one of these. This plus a midi keyboard plus a Macbook Pro = my live rig.
I emailed the files to Jim as I couldn't upload them, jim says he needs to give me permission its 3 pages using the ReMOTESLEditor and a sample N2 project Jim helped me sort out the other day. I tried using the Automap by had no luck. It needs the Novation VST wrapper adding to the code to work properly.
Do you have a myspace?
Here's the file -- sorry I didn't get it up earlier, but I was in Santa Fe
most of yesterday, and deep inside the code fixing a pressing bug this afternoon...
Cheers,
Jim
I'm using a Novation Nocturn MIDI controler and I hope that Numerology use the automapped versions of the AU plugins ... Do you think that is enable in the near future ? That could be very nice ...
I tweaked the AU loading code in Numerology so it will now load plugins that are wrapped w/ Novation's Automap Universal technology. I tested a few plugins and it seems to work fine. However, I still see some advantages in taking the time to making one's own templates, particularly as it allows you to position all the controls just where you want them.
This change will be out with the next beta (#33)

Now i've my nocturn and i'm able to use automap via Num but speed dial function seem don't work for me
may be i do something wrong..
I have the same trouble with my Nocturn too ... But it seem to be N2 preset AU manager not active in this beta ....
;)

Forgive my confusion (I've been deep in 64-bit-timestamp-land all day), but what is the speed dial function?
Thanks,

Drom the Novation site:
"Novation’s unique ‘Speed Dial’
An instant access touch-sensitive control for composers and performers alike, allowing you to take control of whatever your mouse is focused on!"
I think that this feature happens only in Automap enabled plugin,
but this in Num seems don't work
Ahh, then I would guess that it wouldn't work for Numerology itself without direct automap support.

no no :)
works very well excerpt for the speed dial.
Today i'm tryng a project with four stack and one Reaktor istance for stack :
The Nocturn's Automap server recognize four istance of Reaktor (everyone with different instruments or FX) and be able to map every one itself .. this sound great :)
Ahh, I see....

i think you already know that: Novation just released the Automap 3 beta version
http://mail.focusrite.com/beta/
At NAMM, I put in a request to get the Automap SDK, once I see it, then I can determine how best to move forward. I want to implement something that will work well with a variety of controllers, as well as provide extra-deep support for a few controllers that offer special features.

Is not the SDK found here (http://developer.novationmusic.com/doku.php?id=automap_universal_development) of any use? It doesn't seem to complicated.
BTW: I'm having a lot of fun using Automap3 Pro with numerology. Some improvements: Easier to configurate control assignments (drag&drop in HUD). Possible to assign keyboard shortcuts to controllers. (So one can e.g dedicate an octave on the keyboard to the shortcuts available in Numerology. Making it much more covenient to move around in a live setting.)
But of course, direct Automap support for the mixer in Numerology would be awesome.
Looks good, I'm checking it out now....

is it possible also to control mixer settings with Nocturn, not through midiCC but with it's automap functions? I don't own one, but planning, and may be my question little bit not clear, but what i mean that there s special button called Mixer, and nocturn, mapping mixer controls from daw software to it somehow...
THanx!

I'm still trying to determine how to properly support automap -- there is more than one path to take, and I'm also working on something that will support a variety of controllers in a useful manner. I should have more details in 3-4 weeks....

Hello,
I just tried numerology for the first time this week, and was so amazed i instantly bought it. Now I'm playing with it and my novation remote, I made this numerology project and remote template acidicremote.zip (http://nxpnsv.googlepages.com/acidicremote.zip) which is an 8 note loop that is fully editable with the remote. Hours of fun :D It works with outthe remote but is way less fun.
In 2.1 RC2 I found weird effects when skipping or muting all steps, and some times one of the notes refused to be skipped, is this a bug?
cheers,
t

You shouldn't be able to skip the start step and the end step of a sequence, but if you find any other issues, just save that preset and email me the project -- if it is a large project, then just make a new one and import the stack of interest.

Thanks,
this explains the skipping problem (I don't understand the reason for this feature however). I think the mute issue wasn't numerology but conspiratory settings in AU delay, I can't reproduce it anymore so I'm sure it is not a bug.
