Hi
Im trying to sync Numerology via midi in to another piece of software running on my mac
im using OSC 10.4.11 if this makes any difference.
When i go to SYNC SETUP and try to select Numerology In 1 as the sync input it is not available.
nly my hardware midi device ports (m-audio midisport and FW 1814) midi ins are available.
Am i missing something ? or is this a current bug ?
thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,
the Numerology 1 to 4 are outputs of Numerology, so it makes no sense to show them at sync in.
If you need a MIDI bus to connect other software to Numerology you have to use the IAC busses.
Here is how to setup your Mac to use the IAC Driver internal MIDI Bus.
Load the Audio-MIDI Setup Utility, found under the Applications ->Utilities folder.
Check the box labeled “Device is online.”
This creates an internal “MIDI cable” you could use to send data from one program to Numerology.
You could setup as many “MIDI cable” as you wish.
I have 17 MIDI cables running at my machines 1 to 16 for normal MIDI connections
and one for MTC when connecting several programs together.
This MIDI busses could be used as in or outputs,
but you have to take care fore your self to avoid MIDI loops!!

The main difference between the Numerology and the IAC busses is that the IAC busses were created at the start of your machine.
The Numerology 1 to 4 when you start Numerology, so the IAC busses are avialable before you start Numerology what makes the startprocess of your programs more easy.
You need not take care which program to start first ...

The reason that Numerology's virtual ports are not available for sync is due to a limitation in the Apple library that Numerology uses for sync, and an oddity in the way virtual MIDI ports are implemented. As Jue mentioned, the solution is to create an IAC bus and use that. I just checked the doc and realized that it should be updated to match. Up until just before 2.0 was released, I had implemented an internal MIDI "loopback" that allowed using Numerology's virtual ports for MIDI sync, but it introduced some lag in sync performance so I ended up removing them. Sorry for the hassle!
