View Full Version : Help! Numer + DSP Quattro... MIDI Polyphony?

Hi - I'm trying to pipe MIDI out of Numerology into DSP Quattro using Numerology's MIDI pipes.... I can get the Nmerology MIDI in to Quattro, but when I program polyphonic MIDI patterns in Numer, I only get monophonic MIDI messages entering Quattro.

I'm pretty sure its not Quattro - when I set my controller keyboard as a Quattro MIDI input, I can play chords.... but when I set it to Numerology Out 1, I just get single notes.

The same thing happens when I use the IAC driver.

What am I missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I've just tested this with Numerology 2, the demo version of DSP Quattro 3 and two different soft synths (Zebra and Alchemy). Something definitely isn't right, but I think the problem is more likely DSP Quattro than Numerology.

If you use e.g. MIDI Monitor to look at the MIDI messages being passed from Numerology to DSP via "Numerology Out <x>", the note on / note off messages are being sent from Numerology as expected.

Setting the gate value in Numerology to "Tied" causes polyphonic notes to be played correctly in DSP but not for all notes, only the next set of notes after the tie. This suggests DSP is not processing MIDI note on / off correctly, so I would contact the DSP developers.

As a workaround, you could host the AU's in Numerology, and send the audio from Numerology to DSP via Soundflower. As DSP is an audio program, rather than a MIDI host, that would make more sense anyway, IMO.

You can download MIDI Monitor here, it's free:

You can download Soundflower here, it's also free:

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks for the pointers! I've emailed the Quattro developers.

Hi Andy,

yes you are right, for the moment the best solution is to route audio from Numerology to DSP-Quattro. We will investigate about this problem in DSP-Quattro as soon as possible, also contacting developers at Five12 for a common investigation. It is our great interest to guarantee the fully compatibility between DSP-Quattro and Numerology.

Thanks!

All the best
