View Full Version : More Precise Numerical Entry

I would like to adapt a semitone scaled control value (an interval) to a plug-in parameter which happens to be scaled in octaves so that the CV intervals yield exactly semitone steps in the plug-in. The Scale & Offset module seems to be just the right tool to divide the CV by exactly 12. BUT -- the "scale" field is much too coarse to enter 0.0833333!
Maybe there is a workaround that I don't know, but generally I would like to have number entry fields like the ones in the kind of UI that almost all Mac programs have. Good idea or not?
I'll make a note to bump up the resolution on that field, not hard at all. I've gone back and forth on using the standard text fields for numerical entry, will re-examine them sometime this summer...
FYI: there will be a 'function' module of some sort in the pro pack, with a full set of operations, including rounding, truncation, etc. Pretty much everything that can be done in C via an operator or a function in math.h, plus some musically specific functions like note num -> freq.
Best,
Jim

Good.
Maybe even better would be two fields, numerator and denominator, which would enable the entry of exact fractions. (The denominator takes only positive numbers, of course.)
I see a minor bug, will fix for 2.1.1. Here's a workaround:
- click on the value box
- type the new number (even if it is the same number)
- hit the minus key to make it negative.
The bug is that you should be able to hit the minus key to toggle it
on and off.

Thanks jim,
I delete my message because i found later that it's working with the "-" key when my "verr num" key is lock on my keyboard, i never used that before ....always used the "Shift + underscore" key for entering negativer value in all my software ...
Working here with a laptop i found the numeric pad not handy at all ....
Thanks for the workaround i will try this in the week.
Charles.
