Just spent $1K to get Volta up and running with my modular. I was planning on using Numerology to drive it for obvious reasons but can't get it to work at all. Volta works fine with Digital Performer. I'm running 2.1rc5 standalone on a G5 with a 24io interface. In Volta right under each colored icon insert (the main work area) there's an output destination - in DP you click and it's a pulldown to select an audio out. In Numerology you click and it does nothing and you can't change anything. Tried various outputs, routing and settings to no avail. I'm still trying things, but running out of ideas.

anyone?

Ok, I'm starting to see the problem. I've always used a 2408/424 interface. Recently I added a 24io specifically to run Volta (at the modular) so now there are 2 active interfaces connected to the 424 card. Everything looks fine in the PCI audio console and DP sees the 24io as expected and works fine elsewhere. Numerology is not giving me any access to the 24io outputs and acts as though they don't exist. The list of available outputs in Numerology ends at the 2408 outs with the 24io not listed. I believe I have the latest MOTU audio drivers but will check that next. I trashed Numerology prefs and that didn't change anything.

I can't get ANY audio from Num to the 24io, so it doesn't look like a Num>Volta problem at this point in the game. If I can get Numerology to see the 24io, then Volta will probably work (I hope).

Hello,

did you made a test with the 2408 analog outs? or do they not work with Volta?

Best

In order for Volta to work properly in Numerology, I will have to implement some new features, all planned for 2.2. For now, I would recommend rewiring Numerology into DP/Logic/Live etc and using one of them to host Volta.

Best,
Jim

Thanks Jim.
Someone on Muffwiggler posted that you're still working on this, which I wasn't aware of. I'm doing what you said and rewiring into DP and instantiating Volta in DP. Volta seems like it's in its infancy but still cool. Nice when all this working and Numerology can host Volta as it just makes sense.

With all the limitations of AU's, it seems like having Volta as standalone and rewired actually makes more sense than as an AU but that's another subject entirely...

Cheers
