Ok, now that I've gotten some what familiar with Midi Sequencing in Numerology, how do I go about recording the audio inputs from my audio interface? The manual didn't seem to explain this, although I could have missed it. I choose an audio input, I see the meters working, but how do I enable recording of an incoming stereo (or even multi-channel) sound source?

Or is the audio input for some other purpose besides recording?

Hello,
Numerology has no Audiorecording!
The Audio in could been used for sending your audio to some AU-Plugins for further modulation or to use the Envelope Follower to generate CV-signals.
One other possibility is to route your external hardware/synths to the mixer of Numerology.

Thanks for the quick reply. Well, it is too bad! Nice that you can process the incoming signals as a modulation source though, I'll have fun with that!

Actually you can record audio, from both the main and alt mix busses:

- First make sure your project has been saved, as the recorded audio will go into the project's media folder.
- Then, on the mixer panel, click one or both of the "rec" buttons in the lower right corner, as appropriate.

Once that is setup, each time you start the transport, you'll get a new recording as a stereo AIFF file, in the media folder for the project, in an "Audio Recordings" sub-folder. You can set the bit-depth (16 or 24) in Numerology's prefs dialog, in the audio tab.

Support for per-stack recording will be added sometime this summer.

Cheers,
Jim

Another option I should mention is that if you want to record multiple stacks at once, you can ReWire Numerology into another app (Live, Reaper, DP, Logic, etc), and use the multiple channels in the ReWire driver to stream audio to the other app for recording.

Cheers,
Jim

Thanks for the info it will be really helpful!

Don't know if I will try re-wire, my little 512 mb mac mini (intel, Tiger) is already below spec for Numerology, so I don't know if I can push it by running Logic simultaniously.

Hello,

if you could spend him 2 GB memory I think it should be no problem.

Also, you might try the Reaper Demo, or Ableton Live LE. Reboot before doing audio work (to ensure the max available free RAM), and use Activity Monitor to keep an eye on free space. I haven't tried it myself, but it might work. And, as Jue mentioned, extra RAM would definitely help, and you get get it pretty cheap if you look around.

Best,
Jim
