Yes, obviously Fabfilter Twin is not the same product as Fabfilter Twin 2.

Anyone had a chance to compare these to CamelSpace and CamelPhat?

I read up on the spec's at http://www.fabfilter.com and they seem very useful. I like a tape delay sim that has a resonance line with an LFO controlled bandpass cut off. That's something you always need.

Someone over at KvR has bought them and confirmed that they are all v2.

I've had Volcano 2 and the original versions of Twin and Timeless some time now. All three are excellent, and for $99 you really can't go wrong. If it's v2 of the plug-ins, even better!!

Volcano is a powerful plug-in with a great sound (it's a lot more than a filter e.g. capable of some advanced gating effects when used with MIDI-controlled side-chain input). Here's a great article about Volcano 2, which will give you some ideas of how it can be used:

http://prorec.com/Articles/tabid/109/EntryId/340/Volcano-Advanced-Tactics.aspx

Anyone had a chance to compare these to CamelSpace and CamelPhat?
Note: I run support for Camel Audio ... but this is my genuine user opinion here :)

The beauty of CS and CP, and the reason they're still selling well, is the deceptively simple interface of each. They both do exactly what they set out to do simply and elegantly, they get "the sound" with a minimum of fuss and can go from subtle to extreme with a few clicks. We get a lot of e-mails saying "I use these plug-ins on every single track".

Twin / Timeless / Volcano are excellent plug-ins, and I have a lot of respect for FabFilter. The range of sounds you can get out of these three plugs is obviously greater than CS & CP ... but it comes at a price, and that is the level of complexity in the interface. I find myself reaching for CS & CP more often than I do the Fabfilter plug-ins if I want to add a little colour to a track. On the other hand, if I want some dirty mono-synth type sounds, FF Twin is brilliant and easy to use.

... all of them work great with Numerology BTW!

Hope that helps.

Peace,
Andy.

I'm really, really sad I missed this deal :( That's some huge savings, and I really like the sound of those plug-ins.

Anyone know if mupromo ever repeats deals after a while?

Unlikely, but if you hang around on KVR Audio, there have been a few copies of Twin 2 / Timeless 2 up for grabs recently in the marketplace.

Not as cheap, but still a bargain :)

Peace,
Andy.

Hey Andy,
Thanks for the pointer! That is still a bargain.

I'm hesitant to send someone money and then hope I get a license properly transferred but I'm going to give it a shot.

In the Marketplace forum at KVR there is a Feedback thread:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74467

No everyone posts there, but if you are unsure about a particularly KVR user you might be able to find a reference.

Peace,
Andy.

I decided to just go for it earlier today, sent the money over paypal and soon after that got an email from FabFilter with my licenses. Saweet!

Thanks again for the heads up about license transfer sales on KVR.

PS Andy - in case you don't remember our email exchange just after the Alchemy competition on KVR, I'm a big fan of Camel Audio as well. I use Alchemy in almost all my songs these days. Also, when I first saw this thread here I decided to pick up CamelPhat and have not been disappointed. I'm slowly figuring out how to leverage these tools to give my tracks more "umph"

Hopefully I have all my bases covered with these fantastic plugins now. This is such an expensive hobby, but it makes me happy!

Cheers,
Adam

No worries! Glad it worked out :)

Ah yes, I do remember! Really glad to hear it was worthwhile for you :) My honest opinion of Alchemy is that it's a very special piece of software. We'll be announcing some nice updates soon, more presets and samples.

Nice! CamelPhat is a pretty classic plug-in. Often times, subtle is the key, but it does brutal too.

This is such an expensive hobby, but it makes me happy!
But we love it, right?

Anyway, back on topic - I now have to upgrade my FabFilter licenses to version 2 so I can do some testing / CPU comparison. What a lovely excuse to buy more plug-ins ;)

Peace,
Andy.
