Hello,

here some thoughts about randomization of the Numerology SeQs.

If you need some more information about randomization please have a look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randomization
and here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random

The randomization of the Numerology SeQs is a little bit to global the most peope think and asking Jim several times to make the parameter selectable that are randomized.
So for me the question was why not randomize the single parameters that we want with the fantastic tools that Jim gave us?

The idea is simple as allways, send a random value to your selected step value.

SeQs Randomization 00 Endless Random Note Generator
A crazy idea, 16 LFOs send there random values (S/H) out to the 16 steps of a sequence.
This leads me to this Endless Random Note Generator. There is allways a new melody generated by the LFOs.

SeQs Randomization 01 Random MonoNote
Now a little step more, added a MonoNote Seq feed the MIDI from the NoteGen to the MonoNote and now you can record what you like and keep it with the MonoNote. Export the MonoNote and useit were ever you like.
You are not limited to the 16 steps of the NonoNote set it to 128 and record.....

SeQs Randomization 02
The other idea is to feed the random (S/H) output of an LFO to the stepvalue of the first step in the sequence and then shift the step right to make room for a next first step.
So here at every start you wil get a new sequence of 16 notes.
What you will see is that the last firststep is allways a value of 0 because if you take away the level the last value is 0.
Did not find a way to go arround this till today, possible some one else has a idea.

SeQs Randomization 03
This is a variation of SeQs Randomization 02 were you have to start the first GateSeq manually to get random notes.
Feel free to experiment with letting this GateSeq generate only a few notes, stop reset and start again.
Interesting things are possible with this start and stop.
So here at every start without manual stop you wil get also a new sequence of 16 notes.

SeQs Randomization 04
This is a variation of SeQs Randomization 04 were you have to start the first GateSeq manually to get random notes.
The difference now is that the step were the stepvalue is set is no more fixed at step 1, with LFO-2 the number of the step were the stepvalue is set now is also now randomized. This is done by modulating the parameter index of LFO-1 from LFO-2.

SeQs Randomization 05
Now we have a variation of SeQs Randomization 02 again but now with a randomized GateSeq also.
Again every start of the Stack gives you a new 16 step melody with a new set GateSeq.

This should bring some new ideas for randomization of all the SeQs we find in Numerology.
Do not forget that every new sequence could be recorded again or the modules could be exported for later use.

Were the sequences are build up by starting Numerology for a new sequence you have to stop, then reset and start again the master transport!

Thanks for posting your interesting experiments!

I think N3's randomization prefs will be the way for me to go on a daily basis, but setups like this can be fun also.

I especially like the later examples that only need one LFO and randomize only once, so you get a chance to review and keep the results.
