Although I don't have any big announcements for NAMM-week, there is quite a bit going on behind the scenes, here are few tidbits.

- I'll be working on Numerology 2 bugs tomorrow and here and there when I get a chance over the weekend. Please don't hesitate to report any issues your are having.

- I started the official Numerology 3 code branch yesterday, no new code there yet, just combining code from different locations to consolidate some things that have already been implemented. N3 will be pretty much full-time for me once N2.2.1 is done and the MonoNote AU goes public beta. I'll be working on the Pro-level features first.

- The MonoNote AU is almost done. I've decided to hold off any more private betas until all the features are there and I've finished running system tests on it. In addition to other features I posted earlier (AU hosting and the pattern playlist), the MonoNote AU now has a sample-accurate MIDI scheduling algorithm and I've added MIDI learn. Just some testing, a few fixes and some tweaks left. I'll be previewing to a few folks at NAMM.

- I've recently gotten a new laptop and moved to 10.6 (snow leopard), as well as the latest versions of Apple's developer tools (XCode). There are some very nice compiler-level improvements in the new tools. Overall, I find 10.6.2 to be very stable and reliable, and quite a bit snappier than 10.5.8 was.

- I also recently acquired a Novation LaunchPad. I haven't tried to add support for it yet to Numerology, but it shouldn't be too hard.

- I will be in L.A. for the NAMM show Thursday eve to Sunday morning. If any of you will be there, or in the area and you want to meet, just send me an email (I sometimes miss P.M.s on the forum...). I will not be exhibiting, just the usual schmoozing and snooping around...

Cheers,
Jim

Hello,

looks like a big 2010 Numerology year.

You were on 10.6.2 now, do we all have to follow?
Wanted to stay at 10.5.8 for some time to create more music than hunting for updates beside of Numerology.

best

For the plugins, I will initially only support 10.5.8 (and later) on Intel -- I need to keep the support sphere manageable there. I will try to expand support for those to PPC and 10.4 as time allows. Having to test with 3 or more hosts slows things down quite a bit (much more so than with ReWire).

For the standalone products (Numerology 3 and Numerology 3 Pro), the recommended setup will be for 10.5.8 and later, Intel or PPC, but I will also have a build for 10.4.

Hello from Copenhagen

Hi Jim, nice to hear your working out the bugs, hope the itch isn't too unbearable!! I'm a new user of the program and getting bolder by the day, so I'm very interested in any workflow improvements on the drawing board... I really like working the numerology way as I've earlier used Cubase back when the first audio version of the sequencer came out.. It's a was a great program but heavy with features, and bugs, bombs and warning notices, with numerology things are moving along much faster. After only a month with the program I'm experiencing that Numerology extends my musicality in an almost uncanny way, whatever I throw at the beast it just eats it up.. Of course this quality of intuitiveness of the interface is strengthened by my own personal preference for tools that at first glance might appear to have a limited feature set compared to a full blown sequencer. I feel that a reduced feature set actually frees me from a large number of distractions, Just throw up a mono note link it to ACE or String Studio or Surge and your off an running..

Or set up the monster modular sequencer I was working on today 6 CV Interval Sequencers 3 CV gates sequencers 3 CV velocity sequencers, 3 notes sequencers and 3 midi out ports in one stack additionaly a heavily outfitted modulation stack, and 3 instrument stacks!! after much noisy fun I started to get something useful happening, based on a three part counterpoint and using the techniques outlined in tutorial 3..

As to getting version 3 out don't hurry the development as the program works great as is, but when it IS ready I'm on first!

I too am using OS X 10.5.8 I wonder if I'll get an improvement on CPU efficiency if I upgrade? URS Heckmanns ACE is a powerhungry monster!!

Regards

Wade

sounds cool! have fun with that novation launchpad. usage for the launchpad is not too exciting without ableton live, and automap is not the best. this just came out though:

unfotunately, it's payware, and not free, but it looks promising!

I'm going through the launchpad dev manual now, looking to see if I can get a simple DrumSeq mapping going today...

Cheers,
