Intrigued by the "Presets' button...

I've been thinking about some of the similarities between Live and Numerology:

Mixer page (Numerology) <--> Session view (Live)
Timeline page (Numerology) <--> Arrangement view (Live)

It's almost like Numerology is a 'Live for MIDI and CV'.

It would be great if the Launchpad could display and select presets in Numerology's Mixer page, in the same way that it can launch clips in 'Session' mode with Live.

Even better if it could record this to Numerology's timeline...

What do you think Jim?

That's exactly how it works -- probably the easiest part of the mapping.

Even better if it could record this to Numerology's timeline...

That feature will have to wait a bit, but feel free to make a post in the Feature Requests section so I can track it.

Cheers,
Jim

I'll post the file once I get it finalized. It's just a photoshop file that I print on Avery labels from the local office superstore.

FYI: the pitch mapping for the MonoNote has changed a bit. I'll have 'official' videos (and the new 2.3 build) very soon...

that is so great! I need a Launchpad soon! I already got a SLMK2 Keyboard.. This will be lots of fun! Transposing... Skipping... Halftime Doubletime... yeah!

will numerology 3 be able to give visual feedback of what you are doing?

Yup.

Hi first post here!
It'd be cool if there was a mode where it could be set up kind of like the tiptop z8000 (or even 4 of them at once, for 4 different mono notes!). I'm still cutting teeth with Numerology and modular in general, and when I saw the z8000 demo thought that would be a cool alternative approach to see on the mac as a plugin or whatever - it kind of is a natural for a controller like this.

Hey Jim, have you tested this with Live open to see what happens?

Wondering if you could use the Launchpad with both apps, if it causes problems, etc...

AFAIK, not possible -- there is no way for the Launchpad to know which app is which -- it just sees MIDI and responds. You can easily turn Launchpad communication on and off in Numerology, but it is a bit more time-consuming in Live. My recommendation in that case: get a 2nd Launchpad, they're cheap...

Well I'm lucky enough to have a LP and an APC, so I'm covered there!

Just wondering if it will cause weird issues.

I'm looking forward to testing the next update. I've found N2 + Live to be highly unstable, which is sad. They should be friends!

You can definitely use the Launchpad with Numerology *or* Live while both are running, you just can't use the Lauchpad with both apps at the same time.

You should email me offline (info at five12 dot com) with any issues. I do lots of testing, but there is no way I can catch everything.

I've been running Live and a Monome emulator simultaneously without any problems. The emulator is 'Nonome', written in Max (NOT Max For Live, so it runs outside Live).

Live appears to respond to everything you do on the Launchpad except when it is in 'user 2' mode.

So, in Live I can control sessions, the mixer etc. When I want to control a Monome app, I hit 'user 2' and Live ignores it and the Monome emulator kicks in.

I think the implication of this is that if Numerology used this approach, then the 'session', 'user 1', 'user 2' and 'mixer' buttons would be off limits which means that some buttons would have to double up.

This approach could also enable Launchpad use for the upcoming Numerology audio units when hosted within Live.

Those four buttons are used heavily, and almost every other button is already doubled (and sometimes tripled) up. It may be possible to implement some kind of fudge, like holding down user 2 while pushing one of the other buttons, but for now I don't plan to change anything.

Best to leave it alone then ;)

Just being able to use the Launchpad with Numerology would be enough for me. I really like where Numerology is heading, and it's great to see a developer having this kind of dialogue with users.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but will there ever be support for velocity in the drum seq?

Also, some preset functions (copy/paste/dupe/clear notes) would be sweet in a hardware controlled environment!

Keep up the good work Jim, this is too much fun! :D

Yes, I'll probably create an alternate edit mode where you edit velocity per-track, with the top row used to choose the drum track, and the bottom 7 to set velocity.

You can dup now (hold "User2" and push "Session"), but there will be more coming.

First of all, this is just amazing, what an incredible way to control this sequencer, love how it's set up. Can't wait to see what's planned for the 'Play/pan' button there on the left - realtime note triggering?
Anyway, I've been using numerology rewired in pro tools 8; I can't get the launchpad working in this manner at all. I'm also using a novation remote 37 controller, so automap server fires up when I start pro tools, which may complicate things. I've tried quitting that (which takes away the remote's features, which I use alot in PT) and that doesn't work. Also have tried disabling launchpad as an input device in pro tools and that doesn't work. And also other combinations of automap server on or off and launchpad selected or not as an input device - nothing seems to work.
I realize this is beta and I'm probably overly excited about using this with numerology rewired in my pro tools sessions - are there any suggestions for getting this working now, or is there rewire support for non-'live' rewired applications on the way? If there's any testing type stuff I can do to help make that happen I'll eagerly do so!
Thanks, and again, am just blown away at how cool this setup is!

Edit:
Okay, saw this post: http://five12.net/showpost.php?p=3122&postcount=16 and it is working beautifully now in pro tools! Woohoo this is killer!!!!!

It only works from Rack Edit mode, and there is no visual feedback -- an issue I'm working on. FYI: I'm starting to re-examine the while dup vs. snap issue, but haven't made a decision yet.

Yes, I'll probably create an alternate edit mode where you edit velocity per-track, with the top row used to choose the drum track, and the bottom 7 to set velocity.

I would think that the method currently used to transpose notes would also be nice in the drum editor in order to switch between 8 velocities per note.

I was wondering if it would be possible when in chord seq mode, for the gate div page to work for adjusting the arpeggiation/broken chord/strum when in those modes.

Just killed the entire afternoon with Numerology and the LP. Thanks a lot Jim. :p
