View Full Version : High End Reverb AU - WOW!
I recently made the mistake of following a link to Aether reverb plugin:
http://www.2caudio.com/products/aether/index.html
I've never been a big reverb fan, but then again I've never heard reverb like this before. Just using the presets included with the demo, I found some effects that are simply amazing.
Of course, there's always a downside. In this case it's the price of $249.
I haven't made the decision to buy it yet, but I know that having heard it, it's going to be hard to live without it.
Tested and works well in Numerology 2.3b2 and Logic 9.1. on 10.6.2 Intel.

I'm being sorely tempted by it myself. Closest plug-in I've heard to the kind of luscious reverb you can get from high-end hardware outboard units.
Convolution reverb is great in some situations, but it just doesn't breathe the way a good algorithmic reverb like this one does.
Incidentally, if you're looking for the same feeling at a cheaper price, I'm also being sorely tempted by the demos I've heard of Eos by Audio Damage. It only has a few algorithms so it's far less flexible than Aether, but what it does have sounds great. The hall, especially, is great for the kind of dream-pop/shoegaze textures I am particularly enamored of.
At $50, it might be enough to keep me happy until someone organizes an Aether group buy. :)
I still haven't bought Aether and for one simple reason;
I use Izotope Ozone as the final step in almost all of my work, but I cannot get Ozone and Aether to work well together. Each is superb on its own, but if you both in any order, the sound is terrible.
I haven't had a lot of time for testing yet and hope to find a simple solution, but thought I would mention it in case it applies.

I recently picked up Eos and must say I love it! Especially for live work, where you have limited CPU resources on stage. Will buy Aether too before mixing down next album project. No hurry, so I'm hoping for a group buy being organized somewhere.

I LOVE Aether, but damn is it expensive. But it also sounds damned sexy.
Eos is awesome, too, and probably my most used reverb, especially on atmospheric sounds but it's great on leads, too. Just have to be careful with it, a little goes a LONG way. :D

Oops, if forgot to tell about a fun way to use Eos: like a sustain pedal! I sometimes play flute through it with a foot pedal assigned to Eos and that makes it possible to create huge floating chord pads with this monophonic little flute. For doing that one should work the "Infinite Button" in Eos.
For anyone following this thread, Aether has just been upgraded to 1.5. The improvements and sound quality is absolutely awesome.
It's a free upgrade to current owners.

I too bought Eather 1.5 yesterday, after having played around with the demo for hours and gotten totally infected. But I must post a warning - when I had downloaded and installed the full version it did not work. I have my serial number but the plugin GUI seemed corrupt in a way that it is not possible to type in the serial. Clicking "Enter Serial" had no effect either. I sent an email yesterday to 2caudio but have not received an answer yet, maybe they don't work on weekends? Right now, as I'm typing, I found a workaround though - I opened the VST plugin version and then it was possible to double-click on the "X" characters that occupies the serial number slots and type in the code.
So now I'm up an running with this awesome plugin. Can't wait to set up an envelope follower to use it as "infinite" when no sound is sent to it but ducking down the Time parameter on audio input (it doesn't have the usual "Feedback" parameter. The Time parameter seems to do the "100 percent feedback audio freeze" trick at its highest value setting).
I'm a bit reluctant to comparing Aether to normal reverb plugins because this sounds so much better (well, to my taste that is). It not only sounds good - it feels good too! You might compare it to some hardware boxes by Eventide and Lexicon but this plugin costs just a fraction of the price. I appreciate that the developer isn't down-pricing it (as some other plugin dev's do) because this means they will have a better chance to stay in business and keep the good work that we as artists rely on.
Hello
Maybie now after purchasing the Aether ,you will need some serious presets on this link for the of Aether 1.5. I just added them yesterday.
Enjoy this amazing reverb.
