I guess I know where it‘s heading. Great idea!

The UI is still a bit rough, but you should be able to get the idea.

hello,
excellent idea!!
Can I reach the Evolve edit parameters via ParamMod?
The X Y Z buttons fore shure I think.

Yes. That is what is happening w/ the three ModSeqs -- each one is triggering one of the evolve 'dimensions'.

looks exciting and useful.im looking forward to it

this looks majorly interesting...

It is very very interesting -- it effectively turns the MonoNote (and soon other modules) into programmable, generative sequencers. It's all about picking the right transformations and combining them in interesting ways. The potential is enormous...

that's how i've always felt about numerology! it boggles the mind the things it can do already.

it's a midi monster!

and... i can't wait for the AU versions of sequencers so i can stick them in audiomulch when mulch 2.1 comes out. blows my mind.

I can't wait for this. Reminds me of the noisering shift register a little.

Evolution is alive, indeed: check out the Patternarium (http://www.soniccharge.com/patternarium). :D

That looks awesome :D

but, we do get to keep randomize, right? :)

The UI for Randomize is currently hidden, but the code is still around, I haven't decided yet what will happen there. I find evolve to me far more useful.

I'm sure it is loads more useful and could be used in a similar way to what I use randomize for anyway :) Inspiration/happy accidents, mostly.

If I had to pick between the two it'd definitely be Evolution :D

I agree evolution is great and I'm extremely excited about it. However, I use randomization all the time just to get something in the sequencer so I can test/play with routing schemes, sounds, new ideas, etc. I for one would really miss not having both options available (even if random is hidden in the settings window or some such...).

Oh, who am I? Er, I've been a lurker for about 2 years(?), but using Num intensely for the past year. In fact, it's my first choice more often than not, especially for new projects.

my arsenal:
--Softsynths - Reaktor, Absynth, FM8, Kontakt
--Sequencers - Numerology, Live, DP, Logic, ProTools
--Hybrids/Misc - Reason, Pluggo, Finale
--Programming - Max/MSP/Jitter, Revolution
--Computer - MacBook Pro 17

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum!

At the least, randomize will still be available via ParamMod. I want to wait to see what everyone says after using evolve for a while before I consider adding it back in. I think if you setup a few generic patterns (via Module Settings), and use that in conjunction with a few hits of the evolve buttons, you'll get some very interesting results very quickly, and with more control than randomize.

Cheers,
Jim

While I think that evolution will be great, I for one use the randomization feature with every patch. It saves me massive amounts of time. I cannot imagine how long it would take to set each parameter to a random setting so that I can start playing. I think that both should be supported as neither is really a replacement for each other. Apples and oranges here.

Interesting... I used to get nothing but complaints about randomization until I threatened to remove it... Anyway, enough votes are in, so I'll keep it around, though the UI will be moved to a different spot on the modules...

Awesome, Jim. Thanks. I find it funny to hear that people complained about the randomization feature. Strange, I would just think that someone would not use a feature if they did not like it. But, to each their own I guess. I am a long-time user but rarely have time to hit the forums, so I guess I must have missed the complaints.

With that said, I am totally excited to make use of both randomization and evolution! The combination will be very powerful (at least for me.).

Quick question: will they v3.0 run on a G4 with just using the sequencing features (no plugins/audio)? I would like to keep using my old mac mini setup with my modular.

Thanks,
Michael...

Yes, it should work fine -- the system requirements will not change.
