Here it is folks, the long-awaited first public version of N3 Pro. As mentioned earlier, this is a "preview release", which means that not all features planned for Numerology 3 are present, but the features that are implemented are either fully implemented, or implemented well enough that they are genuinely useful.

The Download:

http://www.five12.com/Numerology3-Build7.dmg

New Features include:

- New UI : looks better, works better
- Evolve : a whole new way to randomize
- Audio Recording on every stack
- MIDI Recording on every stack
- Stack Library : for organizing and re-using material
- Module Settings : a new per-module preset system
- OSC Learn
- Multiple output support for Audio Units
- Monophonic routing support

A whole bunch o new modules:
- Custom Scale
- Unary Op, Binary Op, Ternary Conditional
- Audio Mixer
- Pan & Volume
- Button Box
- VCA
- Clock Offset
- Gate Generator
- Audio Delay
- CV Delay

And load of other tweaks and fixes. I've had outstanding support from the 3.0 beta team so I now consider this build to be the more reliable than 2.3.

There is no doc yet. I'll be posting preliminary doc on the forum over the next few days. The Release Notes include most of what you'll need to know, and if you already know Numerology pretty well, it will all follow pretty easily. I recommend reading the release notes in "build order", starting with build #1 at the bottom of the file. A full doc revision along with a .pdf conversion will be part of the final 3.0 release.

Since this is a paid upgrade, you'll have to buy in if you decide this release is one you want to latch on to. As listed way back with the first 3.0 roadmap, the preview upgrade price is $65 US, which is $15 less than what will be the final upgrade amount. If you want to buy a full license, it is $185. In addition to the standalone version, a pro license will get you access to the sequencing AUs that are coming, so it represents a really good deal. You can buy both the full version and the upgrade through the app itself. For the full version, click purchase on the demo dialog, for the upgrade, enter your existing Numerology serial number in the demo dialog, click "activate" then click "purchase upgrade".

The demo mode is the same as for Numerology 2 : Most everything works in demo mode, but you can only save projects with a single stack (other than the clock stack), and that stack can only have 1 Note Sequencer and no more than 8 modules total. Exporting and recording are also disabled in the demo version.

Once again, a special thanks to everyone on the N3 beta team for their extensive help testing and reporting issues.

Enjoy!
Jim

Thank you so much for V3 Jim !

I bought me a v3 pro serial from within numerology v2 (so it is an upgrade from v2) but i can't manage to authorize v3.

I start Numerology V3 , i input my V2 serial in the serial box , hit activate , then i see a second serial box where i put in the bought V3 serial.
I put the v3 serial in and then hit the key "enter" on my computerkeyboard.

Now V3 opens , but when i look in the upper left menu , i still can see "purchase", which leaves me to the conclusion that the progrom isn't authorized properly.

What am i doing wrong Jim ?

Kind regards,

Rob.

Oops, just answered my own question:

It appears that i had to push the "activation" button again, after putting in the v3 serial.

I'll make a note to review the UI for that and revise as necessary...

Definitely send the crash log if you have one. Also, how long did you run it before it crashed, and which sequencer were you using?

Thanks,
Jim

This was crashing on start-up for me until I removed the Modelonia Player audiounit (version number unknown). This audiounit runs fine under Numerology 2.

Looks great ... after so many free updates, it made me happy to send some money your way.

Unfortunately, one of the first things I checked turned out to be a bummer ... N3 seems completely oblivious to the fact my Virus TI has multiple outputs. Being as how I'm pretty sure you don't have a similar unit to test with, I'm wondering how out of luck I am. Kind of a drag, as I'm currently engaged in a bit of a technical exercise to see if I can do a few tracks using nothing but the TI as a sound source.

I'll put it on the test list -- most likely has something to do with checking I/O options.

Indeed. There will be more UI polishing (and functional improvements) in later builds.

Messing around with the Demo... Stable as stable can be.. Have to get a license over the weekend. The record to midi function (not in demo) is a big plus for us who work on PCs, and Evolve also... Now for Midi Import.. I can imagine the possibilities.

You are a Genius.

This thing loads up like lightning, Jim! I actually don't even have 2.3 on my computer anymore to compare properly, but N3 loads 2-3 times faster than 2.3 did. Even when ReWiring. It's practically instant. Nice!

You're most welcome. MIDI Import is definitely on the to-do list, but as with a few other things, no accurate schedule yet. I have recently acquired a special interest in having a good MIDI import option, so it is more of an issue of where other things have to happen first, not an issue of whether it is worthwhile or not.

Cheers,
Jim

I was referring to me eyeing uhbik or D16's Silverline series. If I'd gotten either of those I couldn't have bought N3 Pro :D

Although being able to toss some Numerology AUs into Studio One or Live will be nice one day. I think exploring all the new stuff will keep me occupied until you're ready with the plugs :D

Really? I guess the effects could be part of the audio rate modular devices that you have planned.

You are an amazing programmer, but completing a robust, stable sequencing host environment, plus all of these other plans (plus a day job?) seems like too much for any one person!

Until just before the final release is ready (which is at least a couple months away). I'll post a notice at least one week before that.

Hey Jim,
3 looks and plays awesomely . .so far. It's late and my mind is probably messing with me but I can't seem to find anything describing the difference between the "Standard" and "Pro" versions. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks for your hard work! This is such a fun piece of kit! :)

Also, is there any updated documentation on the new stuff?

You're welcome. The feature set for the standard edition isn't finalized yet, but will include audio and MIDI recording, the stack library, the new UI and some other things. It will also include evolve, but you will not be able to edit the evolve settings. The standard editions will not include the new advanced modules (Custom Scale, Unary Op, Binary Op, etc) or multiple outputs for AUs.

Also, is there any updated documentation on the new stuff?

Just the release notes (in the README file that comes w/ the install, read in reverse order, starting with build 1), and stuff I'll be posting to the Numerology 3 News forum: http://www.five12.com/vbForum/forumdisplay.php?f=33

Hi Jim, you said this in another thread... I purchased 2.3 after Oct 23rd so I am wondering if there is a different price also for the pro version for recent purchasers... I am impatient to upgrade so am posting this in this thread cause it seems to get noticed here.

The upgrade to the pro version is the same either way -- the idea behind the 'grandfather' clause for purchases after Oct 23rd is that you didn't pay a penalty for buying early.

Just got N3 and so far pretty cool indeed! Two things I noticed (this is in build 8).

1) UAD Factory presets don't show up completely. First 21 or so. This was also in N2.

2) Importantly, audio routing sems to be a bit broken unless I've not set it up correctly. I've tried both Battery and Drumazon sending particular drums to an Aux channel. At volumes under 50 on the mixer it's OK, but over 50 there's ear shattering bad feedback distortion :-)

I'll look into that.... You don't see a scrollbar at all? There should be one...

Fwiw, I have tested multi-output functionality of the Drumazon (and all other D16 Group plugs) earlier, and didn't run into any problems.

I sent Jim the project so he'll be able to tell me what's going on, but now I suspect it must be me.

I set it up to route Drumazon Audio Out 2 (s) to an Audio Out module and from there to an Audio Bus.

Then I made an new Aux stack and took the audio input from that Audio Bus. Does that sound right do you think?

Edit: User error. I had erroneously set up a wrong input to the Aux stack audio in that was picking up audio busses that weren't assigned in my Drumazon stack. It's all good! Very good in fact!!!

That was it -- I just got back from lunch and was about to make the same post. FYI: at some point before 3.0 is done I'll add some way to increase the number of audio busses -- that way you can do lots of routing of this sort w/o having to re-use aux send busses....

Cheers,
Jim
