My appologies if it has been discussed before (or the answer is obvious).. but is N3 a paid-for upgrade?

Yes, it is a paid upgrade, with one exception: If you purchased Numerology 2 after Oct 23 2009 (i.e. when this post was made: http://www.five12.com/vbForum/showthread.php?t=616), you are eligible for a free upgrade to the standard version of Numerology 3. The one I just put up is a "preview release" of the pro version. I'll have a preview release of the standard edition available in a few weeks.

Is there a different upgrade price for the Pro version if N2 was purchased after Oct 23 2009?

Nope -- the upgrade to Pro is the same either way. It is basically just the difference between the price of the two products when purchased directly -- but with a $15 early-bird discount.

Cheers,
